hi, the band gap mentioned above is not the x-ray emmision spectrum, but
the band between the top of the valence band and the bottom of the
conduction band. how can you get it from the near edge x-ray absorption
spectrum?

 Hi everyone,

i think that getting the bandgap in semiconductors from XANES
experiments only is impossible. Band gaps come from exicitation from
valence band to conduction band. XANES does not do that (core stuff and
so on), so, without going to Berkeley (which must be great i am sure) or
read all textbooks, seems to me your professor is wrong. But i am
interested to know how he does that , if he does.

best regards

Philippe
