The most recent versions of MKL have implemented some improvements proposed by the authors of the Goto libs. This may well explain your observation.

Kevin.

Onderwerp: [Wien] performance problem using ifort + Goto's lib

	Dear WIEN2k users,

I just succeeded in installing WIEN2k on my two computers.
	I use ifc8 (i.e. ifort) and Goto's BLAS.
The configurations of the two computers are:
	1. P4 3.2G 800 FSB + DDR 400 dual-ch RAM
	2. Xeon 2.4G + PC800 RDRAM, respectively.
I used the default optimization leverl, i.e. -O2.

I run the benchmark on the two systems.
The results are 258 sec and 350 sec, respectively.

I found, on the page http://www.wien2k.at/reg_user/benchmark/, that
there are systems similar to mine, but all have better performance
(at least 10%). I wonder what options can be used for acquiring
the performance gain. I tried -O3, but the compilation failed.

Also, I noticed that the best performance on P4 systems was achieved
by using MKL. This is strange because normally Goto's lib is faster
than MKL. Anyway, I also tried MKL. Though the compilation passed,
I got an error of "undefined symbol __intel_fast_memset".
Any comment on this would be appreciated.

	Sincerely,
	Yiyang
