The WIEN2k Development Team and the Fukui Institute for Fundamental Chemistry
at Kyoto University, Japan are happy to announce:

                11th WIEN workshop: WIEN2005
Hands on Workshop on the WIEN2k package

                         May 15-19, 2005,

Fukui Institute for Fundamental Chemistry at Kyoto University, Japan

The first Japanese workshop on the WIEN code is a hands-on activity dedicated
to teach the use of the WIEN2k Density Functional Theory Package. WIEN2k is
one of the most popular electronic structure codes used to perform
calculations with the Full Potential LAPW method. The workshop is a unique
opportunity to learn the use, power and limitations of the package with the
tutoring of the authors and developers of the code. The activities will be
aimed at graduate students and researchers from industry and academia.
The only pre-requisite is to have a basic knowledge of solid state physics,
and chemistry. It is planned as a four-day activity with lectures on the
scientific aspects of the method, applications, hand-on activities on
selected examples, and the opportunity to receive a head start on a personal
project.

The invited speakers and tutors includes:
-Peter Blaha (TU Wien, Austria)
-Robert Laskowski (Aarhus, Denmark)
-Joachim Luitz (TU Wien, Austria)
-Georg Madsen (Aarhus, Denmark)
-Karlheinz Schwarz (TU Wien, Austria)
-Jorge Sofo (Penn State Univ., USA)
-Kazuyoshi Tatsumi (Nagoya Univ., Japan)
-Tomoyuki Yamamoto (Kyoto Univ., Japan)

Chair: Karlheinz Schwarz (TU Wien, Austria)
       Isao Tanaka (Kyoto University, Japan)
       Peter Blaha (TU Wien, Austria)
