I'd like to forward an announcement of the PHONON-workshop in
Cracow. PHONON is interfaced to WIEN2k and a nice (but expensive,
both in terms of real money and cpu-time) tool for all interested in
phonons, finite temperature, phase transitions,....

We would like to announce that

WORKSHOP ON AB INITIO PHONON CALCULATIONS
                Cracow, 2-4 December, 2004

is organized by the Institute of Nuclear Physics, PAN and
Pedagogical University in Cracow under support of the
European Science Fundation programme PSI-k.
This workshop is aimed at anyone who wants
to learn how phonon calculation within the density
functional theory approach can be done for solids.
You may find detailed information on the Workshop at:

http://wolf.ifj.edu.pl/workshop/

Phonons are the fundamental description of vibrations in solid
state materials, and to large extend they define the finite
temperature properties of solids. They play an important role
for quite a number of microscopic and bulk phenomena.
A deep understanding of the phonon behavior, especially
that of a new materials, is a necessary condition for future
technological development.
