Most likely you are running runsp_lapw for a
non-spinpolarized case. Did you answer "yes" to the
following question during init_lapw:
"Do you want to perfom a spinpolarized calculation?"

If not fix it either redo the initialization and
answer yes to the above question or just do as
follows:
x dstart -up (-c)
x dstart -dn (-c)
runsp_lapw
