[Wien] Duo-core: to thread or not to thread with mpi?

Does anyone have access to some recent nodes to run mpi benchmarks.
What I am looking at is the tradeoff between, for instance, in
lapw1_mpi,

a) Running 4 duo-cores each with one mpi task with two threads each.
b) Running 4 duo-cores each with two mpi tasks with one thread each.

and similar for a quad core and/or Xeon.

N.B., it might be good to have an mpi benchmark web page....
