Theoretical study of new electrode materials for Li-ion batteries


             Applications are invited for a PhD 
Studentship on computer modelling of negative 
electrode materials for Li-ion batteries within 
the AIME group of the Institut Charles Gerhardt, Montpellier (France).

             The project concerns electronic 
structure/molecular dynamics calculations for the 
analysis of electrochemical mechanisms and 
atomistic simulations of Mössbauer and X-ray 
absorption spectra (CASTEP, WIEN codes). This 
work is part of a combined theoretical and 
experimental project on new electrode 
nanomaterials for Li-ion batteries involving 
synthesis of materials, experimental 
characterizations and electrochemical tests. The 
AIME group belongs to the European network of 
Excellence ALISTORE and have strong 
collaborations with academic and industrial research groups.

             The candidate should have a 
background in theoretical solid state physics or 
quantum chemistry. Experience with computer 
simulations will be useful but not required. The 
position is fully funded by the French ministry 
of high education and research. Applications
