There's not much of a difference.

You must use the appropriate compiler and mkl libraries for your 32 or 
64 bit machine and eventually some compiler options will be different.

In addition, on 32 bit machines the problem size is limited, since array 
size is limited by 32 bit architecture.

I recommend to install a 64 bit operating system on modern cpus.
