The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Indiana State University
(ISU), Terre Haute, IN 47809, USA, is seeking applications for a
research associate position in laser-induced ultrafast magnetism. This
position is supported by the U. S. Department of energy. The
successful candidate will work in Dr. Zhang's research group. We are
looking for a very hard-working individual who is committed to
outstanding research with genuine interest in first-principles
methods. Merely being able to use one first-principles package is not
enough for this position. The code development skill will be tested
during the interview. This appointment is initially made for one
year; contingent on the performance of the research associate and
mutual agreement, the position can be extended up to three years. Each
year, the successful candidate has about 12 days for vacation.

The major responsibilities include: (1) Implement the spin and orbital
momentum matrices between all the eigenstates, with presence of
spin-orbit coupling in the Wien2k code; (2) Compute the optical
signals as a function of the laser pump and probe delay; (3) Develop
new codes for nanosystems for other codes; (4) Publish papers in
peer-reviewed journals and make presentations in conferences.

Qualifications: (1) A PhD. in condensed matter physics and chemistry
theory, first-principles DFT or TDDFT or CI theory, with special
emphasis on scientific computing and first-principles investigations
and code development; (2) An excellent publication record; (3) Full
familiarity with Fortran and C is needed within LINUX AND UNIX
systems; (4) Preferred experience: working experience with the code
development; (5) Excellent communication skills (both spoken and
written English).
