Thank you for your message.
It's not work for me(i.e. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS).

Many systems have /proc/cpuinfo and istat.eq.0 is important,
the following modification may be acceptable.

                istat=system('ls /proc/cpuinfo > /dev/null')

Your suggestion for the redirect does not work for me.

Could you try to add the tcsh shell explicitly into the command and let 
me know if this works for you, like:


                istat=system('tcsh ls /proc/cpuinfo >& /dev/null')
