<p dir="ltr">Not an easy question to answer. The trivial answer is one which works, but that won't help you!</p>
<p dir="ltr">I have seen problems with anything before 1.4.3, so don't use an early one. I would recommend looking at the latest release of the "one back" stable version which I think is 1.6.5 as this is probably a patched & somewhat stable version, and the latest ( <a href="http://www.open-mpi.org">http://www.open-mpi.org</a> 1.8 ?).</p>
<p dir="ltr">One thing that may be important is to use a version compiled with the same compiler as you use for Wien2k. The command ompi_info -c is useful, also look at ompi_info -h.</p>
<p dir="ltr">N.B., so long as you are familiar with using conventional ./configure scripts compiling is simple. Really tweaking it for best performance is a sys_admin job and well beyond me.</p>
