[Wien] error in lapw1(allocate error)

This sounds strange... I never get that... but there is a bug in xlf 8.1
that might mean you have to update to xlf 8.1.1.
Also, what do you get from "oslevel -r"?
Have you compiled AND linked with -q64?
Are there any warnings (e.g., about NMATMAX) in case.scf_1?
How big does the program get before it exits?
How many planewaves do you have?
BTW, put the coredump to zero unless you are using debuggers...
