[Wien] my membership to the mailing list gets disabled every 3 weeks

I have a suspicion what this is, and it is something that I am struggling
with. Do any of the people who are experiencing this use .forward, or is
there a .forward within the WIEN2k subscription checking structure?

The problem may be related to what is called DMARC policy, which breaks the
standard .forward structure. As an example of this, one of the emails in
this thread (from Lyudmilla I think) did not reach me. The information I
have is:

"Remote Server returned '<gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com #5.7.1 SMTP; 550-5.7.1
Unauthenticated email from mail.ru is not accepted due to domain's>'"

(The above is truncated by the server at Northwestern.) I can find this
information at Northwestern's outlook webserver which I have configured to
forward to my gmail account.

My understanding is that when the email is forwarded by northwestern.edu to
my (main) gmail account, it is an address mail.ru being sent by
northwestern.edu. Google checks with the DMARC policy of mail.run to see if
northwestern is allowed to send a mail.run email. Since it is not, gmail
rejects it.

My understanding is that .forward is problematic, and on its way out -- I
have not heard of any way to repair/overcome this. If anyone does, please
let me know (although it is far from the topic of the list).
